For many small businesses and independent “bosses” operating out of their small office/home office or SOHO, the business world can feel like a lonely place at times. Particularly for those people who formerly worked at large companies with extensive support staffs, going it alone can be daunting because often the sense is that they’ve got to do everything themselves.

“That’s not true,” notes Christine Dole, a New Jersey-bases retired auto industry executive who today consults with small businesses. “There is a wealth of resources, some of them free and many others at very low cost, that small businesses can tap. It’s just a matter of taking some time to see what’s out there. The more you look, the more you will find because you’ll be building a network of help as you go.”

To, prosper, a small business must maintain a laser-like focus on its main mission. For most small businesses, this means not spending lots of valuable time shopping for the best and most appropriate imaging solutions.

Therein lies a challenge for small businesses. They know that today’s imaging products and technologies can be significant contributors to productivity and overall competitiveness. But the sheer number of digital imaging products has exploded in recent years while prices have steadily declined, boosting their attraction. Further, the number of places to buy these products has similarly shot up. It’s almost too much of a good thing because small businesses don’t have the time or expertise to figure out what imaging products to buy, or where to buy them.
